Freedom On Wheels: Why RVing Is The Perfect Way To Travel

Eight reasons why you should embark on your first RV adventure.

From our family’s very first RV trip, we were hooked. Unlike traditional travel, RVing embraces the journey while combining coziness and cost savings to create fun-filled trips for families, pet owners, and adventurers. Here's why RVing is the ultimate way to travel!

Unmatched Trip Flexibility

One of the things we love most about RVing is the flexibility it offers. The freedom to choose a destination on a whim, shifting from an exciting beach trip one week to a tranquil mountain retreat the next. I will never forget the RV trip where our family went snow tubing in the mountains of Big Bear Lake, CA, and beachcombing in Oceanside, CA, in the same week.

If the weather isn’t ideal, packing up and heading somewhere new is easy. It’s also easy to switch up RV accommodation types, whether drawn to immersing yourself deep in nature or seeking the upscale amenities and activities of a luxury RV resort. Our family enjoys a mix of staying in RV resorts with pools, amenities, and kids’ activities, as well as camping in more scenic state park campgrounds that offer outdoor recreation opportunities.

Saving Money: A More Economical Travel Choice

RV travel allows our family to travel farther and more often without the hefty price tag. As a financially savvy way to explore, RVing offers options that fit any budget, from free boondocking campsites to RV resorts loaded with amenities. This flexibility can result in significant savings compared to the high costs of flights, hotels, and rental cars. Having a kitchen on wheels saves us money by bringing our favorite foods and snacks instead of eating out. As a family with food allergies, we appreciate stress-free meals cooked in our RV kitchen or grilling and chilling in our campsite.

Storage For Gear And Belongings

I have a confession to make. Our family struggles to embrace packing lightly! Traveling with kids and pets seems to add even more gear to our family trips.

Our RV offers the unique convenience of traveling with all of our essentials without the hassle of starting from scratch, packing, and repacking for each trip. With ample storage space, I can easily bring along everything we need in the RV, from recreational gear to personal comforts, making it easy to travel without compromise.

Traveling With Furry Friends

If you are like us, your pet is a member of the family that you don’t want to have to board or miss during trips. RV travel allows us to easily bring our dog, Oliver, along on our family adventures without worrying about who to leave him with during trips. Our RV provides a safe and familiar space for him to relax and rest while we are out exploring during the day. With plenty of room for his pet gear, such as food, crate, bedding, and toys, it’s easy to meet his needs while on the go. This is a game-changer for us, allowing us to bring along Oliver without the stress, restrictions, or additional costs associated with air travel or hotels.

Comforts Of Home On The Road

Whether I'm preparing my favorite meal in the kitchen or enjoying a movie night, my RV delivers the ultimate convenience and coziness. One of my favorite parts of RVing is that, after a long day of fun adventures, I can enjoy my own comfortable bed and air conditioning. No more soggy, buggy, or hot tents to retreat to. In addition to my own bed, RVs often come equipped with entertainment centers and comfortable furnishings, perfect for relaxing evenings.

Slow Down and Connect: Meaningful Family Moments

Our family was drawn to RVing because we wanted to slow down, unplug from the hustle of everyday life, and reconnect with each other. Whether sharing stories gathered around a campfire, hiking through scenic trails, or fishing in a serene lake, these shared experiences become lasting memories that strengthen our family bonds.

As an urban Midwest family, I still remember the feeling of purchasing hiking shoes for the first time and bringing them out of the box in Acadia National Park to hike our first mountain. The look of awe and accomplishment on my six-year-old daughter’s face when we reached the top is one I will never forget. We had never visited a national park before hitting the road in our RV, and without traveling to our country’s most special outdoor places, I don’t know that we would have ever discovered our love of hiking. These experiences are priceless!

Freedom and Flexibility To Work From The Road

We enjoy the freedom to work remotely in scenic locations, from lakesides to beaches, all while staying productive on the road. With improved advances in internet technology, it’s easier than ever for our family to complete work and school from almost anywhere in the RV.

Perfect For Kids And Family Travel

Having a private outdoor space to hang out and play is much easier than trying to wrangle kids while keeping the noise down in confined hotel spaces. Our family enjoys camping activities such as outdoor movies, playing catch, grilling, and campfires. Try doing those activities during a hotel stay!

Traveling in an RV also means having a clean bathroom at every stop, avoiding the hassles of gas stations, or relying on campground facilities. We have traveled to 42 states in our RV so far. Can you imagine how many gross bathrooms we have avoided?

Embracing The RV Lifestyle

RVing transforms travel into an exciting adventure filled with comfort and flexibility. It's not just about reaching a destination but enjoying the journey itself. With an RV, you are free to explore at your own pace, bring along the comforts of home, and create unforgettable memories with loved ones. One RV trip, and you may be hooked like we were. So get ready to hit the open road. Your next exciting journey awaits in an RV!
