Exploring Local Life

For the Meinhoffers, the RV lifestyle is about more than just travel; it’s about being present in each moment and savoring the time they have together.

It’s not just a place to park, but it’s a place to live outside as well. We’ve learned that this is how we find the most important things.

For many, the idea of spending winters in sunny Florida is a dream reserved for vacations or retirement. But for Robert and Jessica Meinhoffer, it’s more than just a seasonal escape—it’s a conscious choice to live life to the fullest, cherishing every moment with their children as they explore the Sunshine State in their RV.

After four years on the road, the Meinhoffer family has come to understand the unique beauty of each place they visit. Yet, Florida holds a special place in their hearts. "It's like you forget how amazing a state is until you come back," Jessica muses, reflecting on the stunning landscapes that have become the backdrop of their winter adventures.

This year marks their first winter in Florida, and the family couldn’t be happier with their decision. The state’s natural beauty and abundance of outdoor activities have provided them with endless opportunities to bond as a family. “This location affords us the ability to go for little hikes, get on the water, and look at nature around us,” says Robert. These simple yet profound moments are what make their lifestyle so rewarding.

For the Meinhoffers, the RV lifestyle is about more than just travel; it’s about being present in each moment and savoring the time they have together. “We wanted to connect with our kids more. We wanted to be together more because we know this time is fleeting and we're not gonna get these moments back,” Jessica explains. This awareness of time's fleeting nature drives them to make the most of every day, immersing themselves in the experiences that truly matter.

Education, too, is woven into the fabric of their daily adventures. Unlike the traditional classroom setting, the Meinhoffer children learn by doing, seeing, and experiencing. Jessica highlights how visiting nature centers across Florida has enriched their children’s understanding of the world. “Learning can happen anywhere and anytime, and we've noticed that in our children. We really like going to nature centers, and they have all these setups of what's going on in that ecosystem that we're visiting,” she says. This hands-on approach to education allows their kids to develop a deeper connection with the natural world, fostering curiosity and a love for learning that goes beyond textbooks.

The freedom that comes with RV living has also allowed the Meinhoffers to tailor their lifestyle to fit their family’s needs. “When you go into the RV, you'll have the opportunity to kind of figure out what works for your family and to find that freedom,” Jessica shares. It’s this flexibility that has enabled them to focus on what’s truly important—each other. The RV isn’t just a mobile home; it’s a vessel for discovery, adventure, and connection. “It's not just a place to park and live, but it's a place to live outside as well,” Robert adds, emphasizing the importance of embracing the great outdoors as part of their daily life.

As they continue their journey, the Meinhoffers are constantly reminded of the value of slowing down and appreciating the small moments. Whether it’s a hike through a nature reserve, a day spent kayaking on a serene lake, or simply watching their children explore a new environment, each experience is a treasure. “We've learned that this is how we find what's most important,” says Robert. It’s a lesson that many strive to learn but few fully grasp—the understanding that life’s greatest joys are often found in the simplest of moments.

In a world that often feels rushed and chaotic, the Meinhoffers offer a refreshing perspective: slow down, embrace the present, and prioritize what truly matters. For them, that means spending quality time together, exploring the beauty of the world around them, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. As they continue to journey through Florida and beyond, they carry with them the knowledge that these moments, though fleeting, are the ones that make life truly meaningful.
