Easter Events at Campgrounds Across the Country

Is your family planning to celebrate Easter at a campground? Take a look at these recommendations!

Many campgrounds plan to celebrate Easter this year with everything from Easter-themed craft activities to traditional and glow-in-the-dark Easter egg hunts to sack races and different types of egg relays.

Some campgrounds are even expecting to have visits by the Easter Bunny. A handful of campgrounds also offer special egg hunts for adults and pets, chocolate and wine tasting socials, Easter bonnet parades, and golf cart parades in which guests are invited to decorate their golf carts to make them look like Easter Bunnies.

Some Northern campgrounds that open after Easter are still planning to have Easter activities, but they do so later in spring.
Here’s a sampling of Easter-themed events taking place at campgrounds across the country:

California

  • Campland on the Bay in San Diego: Campland hosts a number of fun activities for Easter weekend, including bean bag toss tournaments, dodgeball, and tie dye. The campground also hosts a huge Easter egg hunt with over 10,000 eggs hidden throughout the resort. “We do have different areas for age groups,” said Jan Yerzik, Campland’s director of marketing. “If kids find a golden egg, they can redeem it at the recreation office for special prizes such as Campland swag or candy.” Campland will also have a special Golden Egg hunt that runs from April 14-20. “It’s a few special golden eggs hidden throughout the resort that can be redeemed for big prizes,” Yerzik said.
  • Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina in Newport Beach: This resort hosts a huge Easter Egg hunt on the beach at the resort. “We break up the areas for different age groups,” said Jan Yerzik, Newport Dunes’ director of marketing. “Over 5,000 eggs are hidden throughout the beach and playground. It’s a mad dash for kids to collect lots of easter eggs filled with little toys, stickers, or candy. We also host Easter crafts and bingo.”

  • Santa Cruz / Monterey Bay KOA Holiday in Watsonville: Easter weekend activities at this campground include egg coloring; a spring sun catcher craft; story time for the little ones featuring “How to Catch the Easter Bunny” and a craft; an Easter scavenger hunt; jelly bean bingo; and Easter egg hunts, organized by age.
