90 new campgrounds, RV parks and resorts, and more than 18,000 campsites in both new and existing parks are expected to come online over the next 3 years, according to a recent report in RVBusiness.com.
One area of the country that has seen significant construction of new RV resorts is the Texas Hill Country, where at least 7 RV resorts have been built in recent years. Many of these new parks have upscale amenities, with some being aimed at families while others cater to adults. Here are descriptions of some of the Texas Hill Country’s newest RV resorts:
- Camp Fimfo Texas Hill Country in New Braunfels: This RV resort, developed by Grand Rapids, Michigan-based Northgate Resorts, which owns and operates 28 campgrounds in 14 states. Park amenities include a resort-style swimming pool with a swim-up bar, an interactive water playground, an 18-hole miniature golf course, pickleball courts. This campground, which borders the Guadalupe River, is also the first in Texas to offer an alpine coaster, called The Cliff Carver, a gravity-propelled sled that includes manual brakes, so riders can control their speed down the track. The track bobs and weaves for nearly 1 mile down a hill, offering stunning views of Texas Hill Country along the way. Riders can zoom down the mountain at speeds up to 25 miles per hour or take a slower if they wish. The park also has a fully stocked general store, an on-site bar, and dining options.
