Father's Day Activities at Campgrounds

Jeff Crider shares some campsites with awesome Father's Day activities for the whole family!

Many families kick off the summer camping season on Father’s Day weekend with memorable activities that could include everything from craft activities to relays and other competitive events, including belly flop contests and cardboard boat regattas. Some parks even have chocolate pudding, pie and pickle eating contests!

Here’s a sampling of the memorable events being planned at campgrounds across the country to celebrate Father’s Day:

Atlantic Shore Pines Campground in Tuckerton, New Jersey: Father’s Day weekend activities at this park include a chicken wing cookoff, a best dad joke contet, and a comedy nght with Round Boy Jimmy Graham and Friends. 

Chocorua Camping Village KOA in Chocorua, New Hampshire: Father’s Day weekend activities include the park’s annual fishing derby and Pinewood race. Mr. Drew and his animals will also be at the park’s pavilion. Mr. Drew runs a natural science and exotic animal rescue and rehabilitation center in Maine. He brings an array of an animals and provides a hands-on approach to learning about reptiles, turtles, science and critters.

Door County Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin: Activities at this park include a chocolate pudding eating contest for everyone willing to eat — without a spoon! There will also be a DJ dance on Saturday night. Dads also receive one free game of mini golf and can compete in a Father’s Day big splash contest.

Fox Hill RV Resort & Campground in the Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin: Activities at this park include a belly flop competition, an ice cream social, a glow wagon ride, and a nighttime movie with s’mores.

Hickory Hills Campground in Edgerton, Wisconsin: Activities at this campground include making a Father’s Day card, a pickle eating contest, and a “Dress Like Dad” contest.

Houghton / Letchworth KOA Holiday in Houghton, New York: Activities at this campground include a fishing derby and an opportunity to build a launch a rocket with dad. There will also be an ice cream social with free ice cream for dad.

Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Eureka, Missouri: This park celebrates Father’s Day with a week’s worth of activities in which everyone is bound to get wet. Guests are encouraged to bring their water shooters, water balloons and even their hoses as the “Water Wars” event takes place.  Father’s Day weekend activities include the “Serengeti Steve Reptile Show,” the “Juggling Jeff Show,” and a “Mr. Jellystone Park Talent Contest.”

Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Monticello, Iowa: Father’s Day weekend activities include crafts for dad, beer tasting, a best dad body contest, a poker run, and a bean bag tournament.

Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in South Haven, Michigan: This campground combines a week of Father’s Day activities along with its “Mermaid and Pirates Week.” Kids can wear their favorite pirate and mermaid costumes, walk the plank, find buried treasures and swim with a mermaid. Dads can also work with the kids to prepare for a cardboard regatta boat race in the pool. There will also be a “Dads Only Pretzel and Beer Cornhole Tournament.”

Lazy Frog Campground in Lebanon, Maine: Activities at this park include the annual “Father’s Day BBQ Smoke-off Challenge & Pot Luck,” an amateur food challenge for participants to embark on a friendly competition vying for bragging rights and trophies. Non-competing guests provide a dish to be shared alongside the competitors’ cooked meats for the pot luck.

Lone Oak Campsites in East Canaan, Connecticut: Activities at this campground include a “Don Taylor Trailer Maneuvering Contest,” a “Wrap Your Dad” challenge, a shaving cream makeover, and a Father’s Day dance. There will also be a “Wishes on Wheels Motorcycle Run and Picnic” on Saturday, with proceeds benefiting the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Moorwood Campground in Hazleton, Iowa: This park’s Father’s Day weekend activities include kids crafts, free mini golf with dad, and a barbecue cook-off.

Mt. Lassen / Shingletown KOA Holiday in Shingletown, California: Activities include a craft to make the perfect rocket. 

Mountain Vista Campground in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania: Father’s Day weekend activities at this park include craft beer tasting and acoustic music, bingo, pig races and mason jar painting.

North Texas Jellystone Park in Burleson, Texas: Activities at this park include making a craft for dad, a fishing tournament with dad, a “Silly Mustache Selfies with Dad” scavenger hunt, a chili pepper sorting relay, and a copycat dress like dad contest.

Odetah Camping Resort in Bozrah, Connecticut: Father’s Day weekend activities at this park include a Friday night “Adult Casino Night” and a “Kids and Teens Karaoke on the Beach” with a DJ. Saturday’s activities begin with donuts with dad with other activities including opportunities to make a Father’s Day craft and card. Dads can enter a belly flop competition and participate in a pie eating contest. Guests can also play a “Who Knows Dad Best?” game for a chance to win prizes. There will also be live entertainment on Saturday night.

Oil Creek Campground in Titusville, Pennsylvania :
Father’s Day weekend activities at this park include a cardboard boat regatta.

Old Forge Camping Resort in Old Forge, New York: Activities at this park include an annual antique car show and a classic and antique car parade.

Peaceful Valley Campground in West Sunbury, Pennsylvania: Activities at this park include dad and me flag football, bingo, and an opportunity to make “handprint shrinky dink keychains for dad.”

Pineland Camping Park in Arkdale, Wisconsin: This campgrounds’s Father’s Day weekend activities include kids crafts for dad, a horse drawn wagon ride, a frozen t-shirt contest, a washers tournament, and live music on Saturday night.

Pioneer Campground in Muncy Valley, Pennsylvania: In addition to providing a Father’s Day craft-making activity, this park will have its annual Father’s Day horseshoe tournament on Saturday afternoon. Dads can also eat free on Saturday night.

Rustic Acres Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in New Douglas, Illinois: This park offers an entire week of activities to celebrate Father’s Day, including kids versus adults laser tag, shaving cream whiffle ball, slip n’ slide kickball, relay races, water games, a fathers only corn hole tournament, and the “World’s Toughest Dad Challenge” to find the strongest dad in the campground.

Rustic Knolls Campground in Mt. Vernon, Ohio: Activities at this park include Father’s Day crafts, a smoker cook-off, and a potluck. There will also be a Father’s Day breakfast on Sunday.

Shelby / Mansfield KOA Resort in Shelby, Ohio:
Activities include kids making crafts for dads, a barbecue rib dinner, laser tag, a father’s day photo booth and adult beer tasting.

Smokey Hollow Campground in Lodi, Wisconsin: Activities include making Father’s Day crafts, water wars, a bubble run and a poker run.

Stoney Creek RV Resort in Osseo, Wisconsin: This park celebrates Father’s Day with a week of activities, including races, relays, scavenger hunts and a cardboard boat race on the Saturday of Father’s Day weekend.

Sugar Ridge RV Village & Campground in Danville, Vermont: Father’s Day weekend activities at this park begin with a candy bar bingo on Friday night. Saturday activities include making a craft for dad and a Father’s Day horseshoe tournament. Dads also get to golf for free on Father’s Day weekend and enjoy having a DJ play their favorite songs on Saturday night. Dads eat free at breakfast on Sunday.

Sunfox Campground in Lisbon, Connecticut: Activities at this park include a fishing derby, father-child corn hole, and a Saturday night dance.

Twin Oaks Campground in Schoharie, New York:
Father’s Day weekend activities at this park include an opportunity for children to make crafts for dad and kayak races.

Whispering Hills Jellystone Park in Big Prairie, Ohio: This park offers an entire week of activities to celebrate Father’s Day, including super soaker dad duels, “Try Not to Laugh” dad joke contests, and a burger grilling competition.
