RV enthusiasts looking to escape winter’s cold and enjoy several weeks or months in the Sunbelt are in luck: There are plenty of RV parks and resorts in popular snowbird destinations with availability, including sites designated for extended stays.

But if you’re planning to venture South after the holidays, you’d better reserve your RV sites as soon as possible because competition for these sites intensifies during the January to March period.

  • Sunshine RV Resort in Harlingen: Following a recent expansion, this resort, near the Gulf of Mexico, now features more than 1,000 sites, including pull-through sites and rental accommodations. Amenities include a fitness center, craft and woodshop, onsite restaurant, and dance hall. Activities include water aerobics, weekly dances, jam sessions, and other live entertainment. The park also offers guided tours.
     
  • Texas Wine Country Jellystone Park in Fredericksburg: This park allows bookings of up to 4 months during the November to February period and generally requires a minimum 2-month stay for Winter Texan rates. Amenities include miniature golf, volleyball, and basketball.
     
  • The Pines RV & Cabin Resort in Mount Vernon: This mid-size RV park features RV sites with concrete pads, picnic areas, fire rings and swivel grills. The park’s bathhouse has private bathrooms and showers. Its six cabins are fully furnished. Other amenities include a game room and gym.
     
  • TLC RV Park & Resort in Cuero: This park is roughly 90 miles east of San Antonio and features RV sites with large concrete pads, a luxury swimming pool, rec center, and dog park. It’s a family-friendly park that also has onsite cabins.
     
  • Tropic Winds RV Resort in Harlingen: This 500-plus-site, 55-and-over resort is just 45 minutes from South Padre Island. Park amenities include a fitness center, swimming pool, and spa as well as bocce ball, pickleball, and horseshoes. Guests can enjoy onsite amenities and planned activities in addition to exploring the sandy beaches of South Padre Island, where fishing, boating and water skiing are in abundance. 
     
  • Tye RV Park in Tye: Amenities at this park include a catch-and-release fishing lake. With free laundry and free Wi-Fi, Tye RV Park is an affordable stay for a month or more while you’re snowbirding.
     
  • Victoria Palms RV Resort in Donna: This 1,122-site, pet-friendly, 55-and-over resort offers RV sites, and rental accommodations, as well as year-round entertainment, including game shows, concerts, karaoke and jam sessions, and organized activities. Amenities include a fitness center, bike trails, pickleball, tennis, bocce ball, shuffleboard courts, and horseshoes.
     
  • Water’s Edge RV Resort in Willis: This park is on the waterfront on Lake Conroe, about an hour from Houston. Activities include fishing, boating, and kayaking. There are RV sites and cabin rentals available.
