There’s a new Halloween activity that gaining popularity at festivals across the country. It’s called “Pumpkin Chunkin’” and typically involves placing pumpkins into a catapult and launching them hundreds of feet into the air.
Of course, there are some variations on the pumpkin chunkin’ concept, which some people “punkin chunkin.’” Some festivals offer people the chance to shoot pumpkins with air cannons. Other related activities involve dropping or smashing pumpkins.
The Gaylord KOA Holiday in Gaylord, Michigan, the Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Harrisville, Pennsylvania, and Tree Corners Campground in West Irasburg, Vermont are among the handful of campgrounds that plan to offer pumpkin chunkin’ activities this fall.
